I have had the pleasure to be guided by Dorchi on extensive trips in both Nepal and in Patagonia, South America. Dorchi has been guiding in Nepal, the United States, and Patagonia for many years and is highly experienced. His knowledge and experience in high mountain environments is top-notch. I first met Dorchi in 2005 when I decided to trek the Annapurna Circuit with a side-trip to the Annapurna Sanctuary. As an experienced hiker from Vermont, and a former national park ranger, I was not inclined to engage a guide. However, on advice from friends, I was fortunate to find Doi-chi, and his companionship and personal guiding assistance made all the difference in my enjoyment of the journey. He made the trip not only more interesting and safe as an adventure, but more importantly, he helped me to experience the Nepalese people, their values, and culture in a way that I otherwise would not have. After that trip in Nepal, t was lucky enough to host Dorchi in the United States in my home and later to have him guide me on the glaciers of FitzRoy National Park in Argentina.

As someone who has never been a Ln of traditional guided trips, I can say that, regardless of your abilities or experience, Dorchi will make your journey in Nepal truly memorable, and you will gain a lifelong friend in the bargain.

We spent a wonderful two weeks in the Annapurna and Upper Mustang regions during June and July 2007. The whole trip was arranged by Dorchi and could not have been better. The travel arrangements, food, and lodging were just as vie had hoped and discussed with him before the trip. The additional Gtaff that he hired were also remarkable: fun to be with, great cooks, and tireless. The terrain was of course amazing. But the best part of the trip was Dorchi himself. His knowledge of the culture, history, plants and animals of the region were both broad and deep. His English was flawless and his sense of humor wonderful. We all truly enjoyed traveling with him -- and hope to be able to join him again.

In November 2007 my wife and I were extremely fortunate to enjoy a three week trek in the Kumbu, guided by Dorchi Sherpa. Dorchi is a wonderful person and an incredible guide. His English language skills are excellent, his personality is warm and cheerful, and his knowledge of the region is exceptional. As we trekked from village to village, it seemed that Dorchi knew nearly everyone on the trail. He, and we by association, were frequently greeted with hugs and hellos by friends and associates that Dorchi has developed over his many years of guiding in Nepal. Dorchi has a great sense of humor, and enjoys the subtleties of the English language and our slang. As we approached daunting sections of trail that appeared to climb into the clouds, he would tell us "well, now we'll have a little bit of work". He loves hot and spicy food - what joy to see him sweating from the hot pickles, with tears of joy trickling down his cheeks. He took such good care of our health, ensuring proper acclimatizing, hydration, and nutrition. And he knows the mountains and the trails so well that he could always gauge how far to push, or not. It was particularly inspirational to see Dorchi with the children along the trail and in the villages. Always a smile, a few soft words, a soft brush of the cheek as he crouched to their eye-level. He taught us some Nepali and the customs of the region, as well as the names of the mountains, the rivers, and the trails. Oh, and we laughed, and we laughed. We endorse Dorchi at the highest possible level, without a thought of reservation, and would be glad to provide additional insight to anyone who would like to contact us.
